Tease Me, Baby! – I, Frankenstein

Here is a movie that may exist outside of your radar. I know I certainly didn’t know about it until my co-host of The Drive-In of Doom, JJ Hawkins, pointed it out to me this week. It comes up as a point of conversation during our next commentary and I felt it was too crazy not to share it with you.

Aaron Eckhart plays Frankenstein’s monster (now existing under the name Adam Frankenstein) as he is dragged into a war between… gargoyles? and angels? Possibly? It’s really hard to tell. But Bill Nighy is in it and so is Miranda “I am no man” Otto.

It’s written by the same guy who did Underworld so it’s that level of madness. Funnily enough it’s actually based on a graphic novel by Darkstorm Studios (no, I’ve never heard of them either) so you can expect a commentary from myself and JJ when it arrives on DVD.

– Dear Diary

I absolutely love the idea that Doctor Frankenstein kept a journal with a big dirty logo on the front with his initial. It’s fantastic.

dear diary

I kinda want one. Although all I would write in mine is neck-bolt jokes.

– Really Really Ridiculously Good Looking

There is no getting away from the fact that Aaron Eckhart is an attractive man. They try to mess up his face but c’mon…

grrrrrr

That chin dimple and those beautiful eyes just can’t be uglified.

– They’ve Both Stoned and High

So these are the bad guys. I guess? Frankenstein sure does kill a lot of them in this trailer.

flying stoned

Gargoyle creatures in the air and Roman looking pretty people on the ground. They seem to want to use Frankenstein as a weapon or something. Maybe? Possibly.

– Death From Above

Oh no, wait, maybe these are the bad guys.

Death From Above

The army of Frankenstein monsters that Adam Frankenstein says will destroy the world. Maybe. Possibly.

You know what? I have no idea what is going on here and I don’t care, this looks ridiculous. It might be worth watching with some mates and a lot of beers but otherwise, just like with the monster, you may get the urge to burn the makers of I, Frankenstein!
