Mars Needs Podcasts #289- Cold Pennyroyal Movies
JJ and his amazing friend Jason return this week even though it is cold. Yep. Winter is not only coming, it has come and it seems to involve people loosing their shit. SNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW! Also, a bad dark joke leads to a new meaning of a song for poor Jason. Jason has seen Big Hero 6 and gives a quick thumbs up, while JJ gives a mostly spoiler free dissection of Interstellar, and reveals what evil dictator Anne Hathaway looks like in one of her sad scenes.

There was a pretty good explanation about why the Signs ending didn’t work that Kumail Nanjiani had on an episode of The X-Files Files, that I remember being touched on in maybe a FilmCritHulk thing at some point, namely that the movie uses these contrivances and set-ups and punchlines to prove that there’s a god working behind the scenes (which Mel Gibson then accepts back into his life), whereas obviously in the movie the person working behind the scenes is just M. Night Shyamalan, and those contrivances are just proof of someone with the ability to go back in a script and put in the necessary dialogue and information to set up what needs to happen. So really the movie is about Mel Gibson’s character learning to be grateful to M. Night Shyamalan for writing the movie.
I totally agree about Interstellar being able to be cut off at a certain point and made into a better movie (and I think I know the place?) but I didn’t have as much issue with the stuff after it. Matt Damon is kinda where I got thrown out of the movie a bit too, especially with the other guy straight after back on earth. Also: way too many dudes. John Lithgow was pretty good though. Also so was this episode thanks bye
