Mars Needs Podcasts 193- Django’s Delight

JJ and his amazing friend Elizabeth return to wish you the happiest of New Years. Elizabeth recommends The Little Stranger which leads into a discussion of what does and does not work in scary novels and movies. JJ takes umbrage with an article about the 50 Greatest Hip Hop Songs Of All Time. (Elizabeth drops the mic and leaves the “stage”) Finally the pair get into some very mild spoilers regarding the film they have just seen…Django Unchained.

Great episode! Definitely going to have to look into The Little Stranger as that sounds great. They pulled the same thing with Zoe Bell in that one episode of Lost! She was on the tanker when all that stuff was happening, I think.
Also I would think the criticism about not having enough/any strong female characters counts more towards movies and media generally than it does Tarantino, haven’t seen the movie yet (it doesn’t come out here until next week) but it is a little disappointing that even having those characters is still a “trademark”! Bit weird as well that you mentioned The Descent as the director of the british version is kind of known for trying to have strong female characters (Dog Soldiers/The Descent/Doomsday) (also D titles I guess) but less successfully.
Anyway, out working at the stables today so going to get right on to listening to the next episode!
