The Drive-In of DOOM! – Kick Ass
Hello and welcome back to DOOM!’s exploration of the Superhero film genre hosted by Aaron Poole and JJ Hawkins. This month we look at Matthew Vaughn’s Kick Ass. We discuss why good films are a bit harder to comment on then bad ones, why this film really should have been called Hit Girl, why the movie is better than the comic, and get a little insight on our host’s taste in women. All this plus you get to watch the movie with us, so how cool is that?!

It turns out, there is another drinking game this month, whenever Aaron gets defensive about Twitter, take a drink. Sheesh, we didn’t aim for it to happen this way, it just did. Maybe next month will be different? Who knows.

So first off, I’d like to say this has stayed in sync perfectly so far (I am at the hit girl gun fight at 1:40). So much fun watching it with you guys. Thanks for all your insight. You opened my eyes to a few things. Keep it up. I got both Nolan Batman’s. I agree with the spreading of series. cheers till August!
I bought this movie and I still have no interest in watching it. That said, I’ll gladly listen to you two talk over it.
Yeah, I liked the movie way more than the comic book, too. The ending of the comic is just so mean spirited, cruel, and needlessly cynical compared to the film’s ending. Also, you forgot to mention the part in the comic where Katie sends Dave a picture of her sucking off her new boyfriend out of spite (and then Dave masturbates to it). That had to be the skeeviest thing I’d ever read in or outside of a comic book.
I was afraid Aaron couldn’t handle that. He was already getting depressed. Yeah, that was messed up.
What?
Ugh… thank you JJ for sparing me that one.
I have not seen this movie yet, but I look forward to checking it out tomorrow. You should do Scott Pilgrim vs. the World next!
Scott Pilgrim will get done, rest assured. Heck we even get excited about the idea on this very podcast. Both Aaron and I are two massive fans of Edgar Wright, and of Scott Pilgrim.
I just got Superman, Superman II the Richard Donnor Cut, and Superman Returns for $12 on blu-ray @ Target! Just Sayin’!
