Hi guys, Sharp-O back once again with another Mint in Box and today we’re looking at the S.H. Figuarts release of Takeru Tenkuji, the man whose life shines bright: Kamen Rider Ghost Ore Damashii!

Ghost continues the Figuarts line’s shift to a more stream-line package format and as I’ve said previously, I love this as it’s more ergonomic and saves space for collectors who keep the packaging like me.

Inside the packaging you find the figure itself, an extra hood piece, three pairs of interchangeable hands and the Gan Gun Saber.

Also included within this release is Yurusen, the Ankh-like ghostly assistant to Takeru but without the charming anger issues and floofy hair. He comes in one piece, features a head-swivel and has a stand to help him float around Takeru.

Ore Damashii form, translates to ‘My Soul’ and basically means Takeru’s wearing a jacket made of HIS OWN SOUL and it looks fantastic! The slick black with orange highlights is totally my jam and his short sleeved hooded soul-jacket makes him look like a right brawler.

The spirit-hoodie, while looking amazing, is made of a hard rubber that severely hinders the poseability of the upper torso and, to a lesser extent, the shoulders and upper arms which is pretty disappointing.

I’m digging the inverse helmet design that has the compound element all over the face while the eyes are a glossy jet black, a big departure from the norm which lends to Ghost’s unique look. To change out the hood pieces, you just have to scalp poor Takeru by taking a chunk out of his skull, removing the down hood and slipping the up hood over his head and pegging it in.

The Ghost Driver is realised very nice though the handle doesn’t move but it does include a removable faceplate so you can see that monstrous cyclops face that the real Driver has so that’s a nice touch.

The interchangeable hands are swapped out as easily as most other Figuarts, but unfortunately the range of movement is pretty hindered by the silver cuffs, somewhat limiting the range of movement and, by extension, the overall poseability.

The Gan Gun Saber, or Eye Gun Saber, is a nicely rendered version of Ghost’s primary weapon and, in a break from the Figuarts standard of bundling two weapons for different modes and this actually transforms. It comes packed in blade mode but by splitting the blade, and pegging it back in reverse then tilting the hilt to put the weapon in gun mode. It’s a nice solution to a problem that people have hated about Figuarts for a long time.

I’m a little disappointed in Ghost Ore Damashii because while it’s a great looking figure, it’s mired by the same adherence to the suit design that makes it look great but, regardless of that fact, I do kinda recommend picking this guy up because the unpopularity of the Ghost series itself (and it’s baaaad) means that the Figuarts are pretty cheap and I’d say this guy is worth 24 quid of any Kamen Rider fans money just because of how he looks next to his compatriots.

Today I’m going bananas for the latest figure in the Beastboxline of transformable figures – BB-03 JOJO! After months of waiting, this grape ape escaped into the wilds and I’m so happy to add him to the previous BeastBOX figures I reviewed! Check out the video and some pcitures below!

Innuendo aside, I’m happy to present another of NJ Croce’s fantastic bendable figure sets, this time from the critically acclaimed, nostalgia classic; Batman: The Animated Series.

The large window box style packaging, which homages the series style to great effect, does a fantastic job of showing off the toys but also features technical specifications for the Dark Knight’s signature ride as well as some in-universe history!

Batman and Robin are around 3 inches tall and emulate the Bruce Timm style very nicely, and while Batman balances pretty nicely, Robin is top-heavy and can’t stand without support. The range of movement is somewhat limited, only getting an elbow bend and outward stretch and nothing in the legs.

The Batmobile itself is a gorgeous rendition of the iconic vehicle that most people think of when you say ‘Batmobile’. The deep navy blue, much like piano black, is an absolute dust magnet so you’ll have to excuse some of the images but overall, I really the look of it! Unfortunately, the wheels are completely static and the main body is all but hollow, giving it the feel of those novelty bubble bath bottles.

Still it does feature an opening cockpit and the control panels are far more detailed than I imagined they would be. Good stuff!

Unfortunately, the figures do not fit into the cockpit very well. I spent a fair amount of time trying to stuff them and this is the best that I could accomplish.

Overall, while I really dig this set, I do not believe it is worth the 25-30 pounds/dollars you’d be spending on it since the figures lack articulation and the Batmobile itself lacks rolling wheels, but if you can pick it up for less, it would make for a fantastic display piece.

The original Thunderbirds series was a huge success in Japan, garnering a huge following and the vehicles have been part of the modelling culture there for decades so when Thunderbirds Are Go hit the shores of Nippon, you just knew that they’d take this new show to heart.

And they did! As well as model kits and other merchandise; Tomica, a Hot Wheels/Matchbox style line of die-cast cars produced a number of vehicles for the show and, best of all, included vehicles we hadn’t gotten here in the West! Today’s spotlight is on one such entry – Tomica Thunderbirds 08 Jet Mogura aka The Mole!

Unlike the bubble card packaging we might be used to, The Mole comes this dinky little box that gives it a unique, almost premium, feel that is wholly unique to Japan.

Out of the box and this die-cast digger doesn’t disappoint! Its hefty for it’s size and the details and paint are just astounding. The plastic for the drill and treads along the pod’s shaft aren’t as shiny as the promo photos would lead you to believe but the rubber rolling treads on the bottom more than make up for that. If there was one downside, it would be the lack of a tilting hinge or the pod being detachable but I’m sure if there are any larger versions produced then we’ll see that implemented (Looking at you, R/C Mole)

Size-wise, when compared to the Thunderbird 4 included in the 4-pack of vehicles I reviewed before, The Mole seems massive. By rights, it should be but the new series has The Mole as just on of many modular modes for the pod vehicles

It scales well with Thunderbird 2 at least and can almost fit into the pod but is just a little too big.

Overall, I really dig this little vehicle and I highly recommend the rest of the Tomica Thunderbirds line since it’s the only place you’ll be getting models for Thunerbird 5, Lady’s Penelope’s car, The Mole and even the Thunderbird Shadow. Go digging online and you’ll no doubt unearth a bargain but for now, I’ll catch you guys next time on Mint in Box!

I’m back with more Minecraft 3-Inch Action Figures, one each from Series 1 and 2! Although I’ve covered Steve? in my previous review, I’ve still got some stuff to say about him.

Steve? is the main protagonist/default skin for Minecraft so unless you’re venturing into Skin Packs, this will be the face of your character and these figures go to extreme lengths to replicate every last detail of his pixeled proportions.

He even comes with a (slightly too large?) gravel block and an iconic iron pick axe! There’s a minor niggle with this particular figure, however, as there was some extreme QC issues with his arms. They were stiff and barely moved so I had to remove his arms and legs off their respective ball-joints to remove moulding flash that was hindering his articulation. Given my previous experience with this figure, I can only assume this is a rare occurrence since the first one was perfect.

The Iron Golem is from the second series of figures and, in-game, is a utility mob designed to defend villages from wandering zombie hordes or aggressive players. They are hulking powerhouses and that’s reflected in this figures huge frame.

The Iron Golem is articulated in much the same way as Steve? But on a larger scale. His detailing is exquisite, looking exactly how this ancient defender looks in-game, all old, cracked and covered in vines. He comes with an iron block that he can carry and a red poppy, the symbol of friendship with the villagers.

As I’ve said previously, the Minecraft 3-Inch Action Figures make for perfect desk toys, especially for Minecraft players and would make for a perfect stuffer this Christmas. Steve? is an iconic video game character and the Iron Golem is a lumbering brute with lots of inherent charm, especially for me. The Minecraft 3-Inch Action Figures retail for around £7.99 and are available at most major retailers.
