Now, I beleve, we are on the second day of our Monkee Bonanza!

Prepare yourself for cheese of epic proportions. Back in the far off year of 1986, the Monkees were having an unexpected resurgence in popularity. Mickey Dolenz, Peter Tork, and Davy Jones hit the road leaving Mike Nesmith as the lone holdout. As this happened at a time when MTV was still a music network, they invited the three touring Monkees to host a marathon of their show and it was a huge hit, prompting this Christmas treat.

And from the same episode as our tree hunt yesterday, a little deck the halls. I have never known exactly what to make of Davy’s expression on the words “Gay Apparel”. If it is what it seems to my eye, was that kind of joke even allowed back then? Make your own judgement

Today we start a two-part Monkee Christmas Bonanza! Why? Because I love them, that’s why. Now don’t you feel silly for asking.

First up, we pick an old classic…really old…in Latin old

Now, how about we let the boys help us find a tree, eh?

*also of note that last clip features Eddie Munster himself, Butch Patrick!
**Fans of Walt Kelly’s Pogo might also notice the clip opens with a song taken from the strip. “Deck us all with Boston Charlie…”
