Sitting in work as I often do on a Monday evening I began to look for anything to brighten my day. With little stimuli available I decided to take a browse through Flickr.com. This has regularly been a time-waster for me in the office for several reasons. Some of which I will list now because lists please me on an obssessive compulsive level.

1. It is one of the few sites in my office not blocked by the evil IT overlord.
2. I am very interested in photography.
3. It has pretty pictures.
4. Lists look better with even numbers.

I have a Flickr account myself but don’t know many other people who do, as such I browse stranger’s accounts. It’s interesting both in a “I’m being nosey and looking at someone’s life” kind of way and also in a “wow, I wonder how they got the picture” way too.

Anyway, I’m rambling. The point is, to interest me on this gloomy Monday afternoon I searched on Flickr the word “Monday”. From this search I found a group called “Bench Monday“. I was torn. I like benches. I dislike Mondays. I decided to browse anyway.

Bench Mondays have a manifesto. It goes something like this:

Rules: Stand on a bench. Make sure it’s Monday. Wear something pretty.

PS. Only pictures added to the group on the day called Monday will be accepted. However, pictures do not actually have to be TAKEN on Monday.

PPS. Extra points for live props. Double points for chickens.

PPPS. STANDING. That means your feet on a bench, and your body in an upright position. Stop emailing me. Please try to use common sense, darlings

Simple enough. Although obviously some people have been having a problem with the standing thing. Maybe they didn’t get the memo.

It’s an odd passion for people to join forces on but nevertheless it has interesting results. I’ve picked some of my favourite from the bunch below to share with you. Foot fetishists will get a kick out of this.
