JJ and his amazing friend Elizabeth are back this week to talk the best time of the year…VACATION! Yes the two of them spent a few days at the “Goondocks” otherwise known as Astoria, OR. The pair talk of the rather odd experience they had at a Bed and Breakfast and more! Then Elizabeth brings her usual class as they discuss the history of neurosurgery and the brain…. Also, for some reason, they fixate on how bad Man Of Steel sucked and why they hope this does not portend doom for Dawn Of Justice.

Our beloved Sharpo reviewed the previous Man of Steel trailer with much gusto but this new (and most likely last) trailer falls within my domain. Muuuuhahahaha. Ahem. Yes. So anyway…

A release date of June 14th means we don’t have much longer to wait to see this movie. With a stellar cast featuring Kevin Costner, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Michael Shannon, and Russel Crowe it has a lot of fire power in it’s tank but back that up with 300 director Zack Snyder (who seems to be the film version of Marmite) and a story by The Dark Knight‘s Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer… and suddenly this is a powerhouse of a movie.

With so many previous Superman films missing the mark, can Man of Steel break the mold?

– The S stands for Space

If I’m judging this right, they seem to be changing a significant part of the origin story (although, with DC, that’s not a big deal as they change those every second issue) by making Krypton destroy itself through war rather than a natural disaster.

Interesting. It gives Zod a slightly different meaning within the story but possibly an even stronger position so it’s not necessarily a wrong move.

– The S stands for Shadow

Another guess, but this seems to be Superman walking out of the Fortress of Solitude for the first time as Superman.

Say what you will about Snyder but the dude knows heroic shots.

– The S stands for Smatrix

Remember in the Matrix movies when Neo figures out how to fly? He does this crouch thingy which builds up all this energy and the boom! This is an EXACT copy of that maneuver.

I only say this becuase the Matrix version is so distinctive it’s impossible to deny.

– The S stands for Shouting

I’m really looking forward to Michael Shannon in action as Zod. He’s such a great actor and is genuinely scary when he wants to be.

I hope he tells everyone to kneel.

– The S stands for Specs-less

So here’s an interesting thing I’ve noticed. No glasses on Clark. It may have been something that was announced or spoken about before but I didn’t realise it. We’re not getting the spectacled Clark Kent?

What?! I don’t think I’m cool with that.

Overall: this is a genuinely inspiring trailer. It’s the first one I’ve seen that makes me want to pay money to see it in the cinema. Snyder, you may have converted another one.

I called dibs. HA! Weren’t expecting that, were ya? Suck it, nerds! Wait, what was I talking about? Oh yeah, Das Übermensch. The new Man of Steel is a drastic tonal shift in comparison to Supey’s last outing with Brandon Routh. This is much darker, being produced by Chris “Dark Knight” Nolan and directed by Zack Snyder and if the trailer is any indication, we’re looking at one beautiful movie! Let’s dive into trailer!

Wet Behind the Ears

We see a lot of scenes of tiny Clark Kent, a prototypical Superboy struggling as his powers manifest and struggling with the responsibility, culminating in saving his class mates as their school bus falls into deep water.

Field of Screams

Kevin Costner is our new Jonathan Kent and we definitely get a different take on him, much more protective of his adopted son and, shockingly, willing to let children die to keep his son safe. I don’t know whether that’s a genuine fatherly emotion or pants-shittingly terrifying…..

LENSE FLARE!

Two things I love in this world; Lens flare and tundras and this ties into what I said before about this being a beautiful looking movie. Just look at it! GORGEOUS.

Man in Irons

This script is seemingly taking cues from the New 52 incarnation of Supes, not just the suit but the distrust of him by the military. He obviously can’t be contained but our boy scout will no doubt be cooperative to the authorities. Speaking of the costume….

Dedicated follower of Fashion

Some people have got beef with the costume but I look at it this way; shut your whore mouths. It’s got the cape, it’s got the shield, it’s Superman’s costume. It rocks my socks and no mistake.

So that’s it for now folks! We’ve got an all-star cast, some beautiful looking cinematography and what’s shaping up to be a damn fine Superman movie. Man of Steel is due for release June 14, 2013.
