– You Retain The Right To Party

It’s interesting that so much of the set-up in the trailer is based around Jessica being in trouble. The story seems to be more Daredevil/Iron Fist centric with its villains. I wonder how she’ll be included.

– Iron Jaw

I don’t know if we’ll ever get the Heroes For Hire pairing of Danny & Luke that we all love but this is a pretty fun moment.

– Orange Is The New… Wait

This is no flashback. The latest Power Man & Iron Fist comic dealt with Luke breaking into prison to get Danny out, I wonder if this will have a similar reasoning.

– She’s Back

No-one stays dead in the comics, but I am surprised Elektra returns in The Defenders. She is seen fighting our heroes in some quick clips of the trailer but then seen walking calmly behind them in the corridor scene too, so who knows.

– Sigourney Freakin Weaver

She is listed only as “Alexandra” on IMDB. I have no idea how she connects to everything. A head of The Hand? I don’t know. I’m in for it, though.

– Nom Nom Nom

If this isn’t a sly reference to The Avengers eating shawarma, then I’ll eat my hat. Also, how awful is Finn Jones? He delivers this line like a high school theatre actor.

OVERALL: Problems with Finn Jones aside, this looks great. I’m excited, I don’t know an awful lot, and I know it will be out in August. Everything a trailer needs to do, really.

Expect to see a number of future TMBs from us here on DOOM concerning Marvel and Netflix because they’re also making an Iron Fist series, a Luke Cage series, and a Jessica Jones series (currently in production featuring Krysten Ritter, David Tennant, and Carrie-Anne Moss). All this wonderfulness will culminate in a cross-over series called The Defenders which will feature all of them together.

I’m excited. Netflix have a great history with their shows, as do Marvel now too. Daredevil and the three other proposed Defenders are some of my favourite characters. But, as we all know these things can fall apart very easily so lets take a look at the first trailer, released earlier today.

– All The Best Shows Have a Murdock

Here is our hero, played by Charlie Cox (you may remember him from Stardust and Boardwalk Empire). I like that they’re showing scars and bruises. Daredevil is a street-level hero, he doesn’t have millions of dollars or SHIELD backing him up. He gets hurt and has to go home to his apartment.

– The Sound of Silence

Daredevil’s power is an unusual one, in the sense that he is blind but has super hearing. It’s something people have always struggled to interpret in a visual medium resulting in some fascinating effects and art. This short shot gives us an impression of how they’re going to adapt it for this show.

– Hail To The King, Baby

The Kingpin Wilson Fisk is being played by Vincent D’Onofrio. I like that they just teased him here. Big fans will know instantly who and what the bald head means but the average punter would be a bit baffled, leaving an opportunity for some twists and turns in the show.

– New York Ninja

There are a couple of moments in this trailer that remind me of the good parts of the Daredevil film. The edgier, scarier parts. I always liked the moment when Affleck’s Daredevil scared a small child. He’s an intense character and this Netflix show looks like it’s going to work with that well.

Overall: This looks good, and it looks to be a change of pace from what ABC is doing with their Marvel shows so it’ll be positive to have another style of product from The House of Ideas. It even pleases me that the title is an exact copy of the Bendis/Maleev run of the book. I’m in. Bring on April.

Hello and welcome back to DOOM!’s exploration of the Comic Book film genre hosted by Aaron Fever and JJ Hawkins.

This month we We take a look at the first movie we have done that resulted in a Hollywood marrige! So please give us some reggae and watch Daredevil!

Aaron and I have gone on record as pro Daredevil in the past. We have defended Affleck against a torrent of hate whenever the need has arisen. Did our faith pan out, or are we like Linus, asleep in the pumpkin patch again, waiting for someone to bring us a blanket?

You remember movies from the late 90’s and early 2000’s right? We need two things, LEATHER AND FIRE!

So, this guy, he is smoking a cigar. He must be the bad guy, right? We must get one heck of a back story on him…

This guy is the reason to watch the film, in all honesty. He carries this film through breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
