I saw Star Trek on TV, so I didn’t really notice the lens flare deal so much as if I’d seen it in the cinema I guess. I think I came too late into the game to really get a whole grip on Star Wars, I know my dad liked it but he got me more into Indiana Jones, so I’m kind of not that interested in it really? If it was a gritty, hardcore revenge flick with tracking shots and laser swords I’d be into it. But not everything is made for me :(

The Abrams choice disappoints me because, given how many risks Marvel and Disney took with their Marvel films, it’s a decidedly safe choice. Abrams is decent and talented enough to make an entertaining popcorn movie, a GOOD film, but has next to no capacity to make a GREAT film. He already has the reins on one sci-fi mainstay, give someone else a shot. You know, maybe someone younger with less experience but more than enough gumption and bravery enough to aspire above their capabilities…Kinda like the guy who created Star Wars in the first place!

Oh, and the reason you’re never going to hear the end of lens flare jokes is because it’s fucking obnoxious. It just is. If you don’t mind, then thank Zod for your dulled light sensitivity but some of us aren’t so lucky. And characterizing everyone who takes issue with arguably flawed art design choice as a butthurt fanboy is just shitty and dickish. Fanboy whining can be annoying, sure, but I find y’all’s reactionary bullcrap far more infuriating.
