There’s our monthly get-together to re-enact the Hunger Games (bandages required for that one, no aiming below the waist). Then our bi-yearly stage production of the Ben Affleck classic, Reindeer Games. This is followed annually by our behind-closed-doors take on The Crying Game twist which, Richard says, I’M NOT ALLOWED TO TALK ABOUT.

These aside, we love playing board games. I personally love Risk, Monopoly, Scrabble and the Star Trek: The Next Generation interactive game where you had to play the VHS tape on which Gowron kept belittling you. Now Derby (a city in the East Midlands, for our continental readers!) is hosting their very first ‘Great Derby Board Game Bash‘ – an all day board game extravaganza!

Doom’s very own gaming encyclopaedia, Colin Hall-Williams, and his lovely wife, Sarah will be attending, and, for Doom’s first event of this kind, will be live tweeting throughout the evening to all you enthusiasts.

Just like last year we’ll be taking pictures and hopefully some video of the weekend so keep an eye out in the coming weeks for our reports! And for a taste of our shenanigans check out the Dragon*Con tag.

We recently had some much appreciated feedback from a reader (thanks Harvey!), asking if the author of each article could be printed on the homepage, as to see who had written what. While it would be a nice, informative touch to the site, the short blurbs which showcase each article on our homepage, more often than not (but not by much), usually displays the author’s name within its text. That, and the article title is (hopefully) associated with a specific Doom contributor.

Although not everyone may be aware of this, whenever we update our Facebook or Twitter feeds, the author is usually praised (translates: spammed to please their *egos) to all our followers. Following on from Harvey’s advice, I thought I’d take the opportunity to just highlight our social media feeds as a way to keep up-to-date with what is being published, and by whom.

So feel free to join in the fun on our Facebook page, Twitter feed, or our Website of Doom Youtube channel.

* I didn’t mean egos. I meant Egons. All Doom contributors own clones of Harold Ramis. True fact.

This site was originally conceived as a place to host one of our web comics. The idea quickly grew into a lively breeding ground which currently hosts articles, podcasts, and recently, has introduced videos into the mix. Bizarrely, people are reading, listening, and seem to like commenting on what is published around here. And although a small token of thanks, we hope the below picture is a big enough gesture from us, to you, to show how much we do appreciate all our readers out there.
