I have to admit, the first time I saw this trailer, it faked me out. I wasn't really paying attention to it until it introduces Kermit. But I gotta agree, it's hard to tell what's real footage and what's just for the teaser but in the end, it's a Muppet movie so I'm still looking forward to seeing it.
My only real concern is that the last time I saw Jason Segal in a movie with puppets, he had his lad out. TWICE. I don't think Disney would go that route with this but still. Once is shocking, twice is funny, three-times? well now you're just showing off.

I hope you're right, Leslie! I don't want to pre-judge a film entirely because of a minute and a half of a trailer. But there are bad signs and it has me pessimistic :(

Disney trailers these days normally suck at selling a movie... But Amy Adams normally has good taste in the movies she is in. And she is adorable! Not to mention that Jason Segel isn't normally 100% awfully cheesy, so maybe it is just the trailer that is portraying the movie to be awful. Maybe the movie will be fabulous and we will all be happy... Or maybe it is just wishful thinking. =^]

I think one of the main problems is that, even if it's genre and formulaic and a parody of that kind of "by the numbers" rom-com trash that gets pulped out, the "pre-fakeout" stuff actually looks better put together, better paced, and more professional than the muppet stuff that comes afterwards.

So I'm not even sure if the stuff after the reveal is even from the new movie, especially with Jason Segal's facial expressions which are so instantly recognizable as cheesy and annoying that it's difficult to imagine they aren't just there as a wink to the camera, as they congratulate themselves on how well they tricked everyone with the opening stuff.

Also, yeah, the idea behind it would be really great, fantastic, if it wasn't for The Muppets. It feels like it's trying to comment on how wacky or crazy it is to have muppets in a movie in 2011 (or... whenever it comes out, I can't remember)

I guess it's all just kind of annoying, because I remember seeing the publicity shot in Empire about a year or so back and thinking that it might be pretty cool.

I guess it's just kind of like, anyone who doesn't know about who or what the muppets are will pretty much gain nothing from the trailer, so... Yeah.

Judgment or speculation on the movie should at least be reserved until a proper trailer has come out, but this trailer just doesn't seem to be all that great.

And, yeah, this is a pretty big comment, huh?
