I actually like this generation a lot more than the last two (Ruby/Sapphire and Diamond/Pearl). This feels like a fresh start as opposed to having 50 new pokemon tacked on to an existing roster of Gen 1 or 2 Pokemon. I know you’ll always have the Rattata/Geodude/Zubat archetypes but at least I’ll want to catch new ones as opposed to ones that I’ve caught before.

And I want that yellow furry electric tarantula! :D (I forget it’s name)
