I totally agree, Nick! IDW's Transformers books were good, no doubt, but when those two hot-shots came on the scene the quality to a huge leap. Same with Barber, he's done some amazing work knitting the plot holes and inconsistencies into the ongoing narrative.

Thanks for commenting and be sure to check out my reviews of the MTMTE trades!

This is the greatest comic series ever, or it was. Then More than Meets the Eye came out. James Roberts should write everything. I feel he and Nick Roche don't get enough credit for the work they do. It's fantastic. Easily two of the best comic book writers of all time.

It would seem so but I doubt the Autobot/Decepticon war is over-over. I imagine this would be instrumental down the road for the Pax Cybertronia but it'll all kick off again. If Simon Furman taught us anything: "It never ends."

The only thing missing now is some nods towards BW continuity. If we get that I will be truly amazed, but would love to see how they do it.....
And thinking about it, is not the current RID/MTMTE setting essentially the dawn of the Pax Cybertronia?

Love this series so, so much. As a fan from 'Back In The Day', it was great to see the likes of Twintwist & Topspin get some love, as well as seeing Overlord in action and some loving nods to TF lore of old. Examples? The members of Squadron X and, my personal highlight, seeing the return of the bot, the legend, Impactor. A Wrecker so bad-ass that in the original UK series he got not one but TWO hardcore death scenes.
Also, love that one of the subtler moments is only now getting dealt with in MTMTE: the whereabouts of a certain speech-impaired renegade.....

Wreckers was my introduction into TF comics, because it was self-contained and had generally good reviews which made it an ideal jumping on point, which is something that TF comics really need. It deals with more mature issues very well and doesn't seem afraid of going where the story needs to go, which is great. I felt that Overlord didn't have the dimension required of the main antgonist, but really served more as an 'end of level boss' but the individual characters and relationships was very well developed.

Great review! Wreckers is one of the best pieces of fiction I've ever read, and hopefully it's awesomeness won't just be confined to Transformers fans.
The dialogue is superb, and the art vividly brings the brutality to life. You genuinely feel for these poor bots.
