The Drive In Of Doom!- Superman

Hello and welcome back to DOOM!’s exploration of the Comic Book film genre hosted by Aaron Poole and JJ Hawkins. This month we look at Richard Donner’s 1978 take on Superman, starring Christoper Reeve. This episode had a few technical issues, but nothing that should ruin the experience for you. Just know that we are a determined bunch here at the Drive In Of Doom! and will stop at nothing to get your podcast done right…or something that sounds all heroic and stuff.

Admit it, just seeing one image…you hear the music. I know you do.

Just show you that unlike last month’s episode, this one comes with actual acting!

Okay everyone, join in with me and inform Aaron this is a dress, not a nightgown.

If you want to drink, take one every time Aaron and JJ hum the theme. (or so they thought. This is the choice is you want to remember the evening) OR when Aaron and JJ disagree about a certain television show starring Mr. Dean Cain…

For some reason we call Kate Bosworth, Kate Beckinsale. Oops.

Haven’t listened to the episode yet but I was curious: have you guys set up an iTunes feed for this yet?

    • JJ

Working on it. Maybe by next month.

Great episode, aside from the technical difficulties. Superman is a great nostalgic movie but you guys said yourselves that it has problems. Christopher Reeve was a legend and will always be Superman in my eyes.

    Looking forward to Iron Man

In the end, I think the technical difficulties bugged us more than the listener, so that is what counts, right?
What I would say, is that Christopher Reeve is my favorite Superman up ’till now. I am always hoping to be wowed. It does no less to Reeve’s legacy to appreciate new performances, and I really want to believe another man can fly.

I agree, Brandon Routh was a fantastic Supes. Not getting a good feeling from this new guy though, we’ll see.
